Next Gen Qigong

meditation_candles-1500x1000.jpg
Wednesdays 12:10 PM - 12:50 PM
March 10, 17, 24, 31, April 7, 14

Through the simplicity of sharing the Qi, you reinforce what you already know: that we need to practice to have that restful-alert resilience. Noticing with slow natural awareness through the breath and the meaning behind the movement, you can embody healing moments. In the spirit of defining what is a healthy hospitable environment, nurturing Qi can be a gentle call to action, to move you beyond knowing the message behind the movements, to being part of THE movement: one where you are the lead energy supporting your healing environment.

(GU Faculty and Staff please note: we continue to have ongoing on-line Tuesday and Thursday class options. Please let me know if you would like to join me or check your GU Wellness Update for more).

Wednesdays 7:30 PM - 8:15 PM
March 24, 31, April 7, 14

How can we set the stage for deeper sleep -- our own cuppa sleepy time Qi? Are you hoping to be more open to dreams, or get that extra hour without waking? Or maybe you simply need a release from the tension of the day? Noticing with awareness through the breath and the meaning behind the movement, you can embody healing moments and use sleep as a spiritual practice. To help ease you into slow natural rest we will acknowledge gratitude at the end of the day through gentle movement, qigong meditation, self-massage, and compassionate creative care, as we share the Qi to help our transition to sleepy time zzzzzzzz!

Way with Words,

Sounds and Images

Wednesdays 2:30 PM - 3:20 PM
March 10, 17, 24, 31, April 7, 14

Part of the Imprint Initiative: an arts and health educational initiative.

Words, sounds, and images all serve to uplift us. During this open studio time, we create space to lead with the heart, and lead with the heart to create space. We wait for the way to open for that moment of pause. Through wu wei, or effortless effort, we tend to the healing spirit and give ourselves time for compassionate creative care.

We will begin with a contemplation, reading and/or prompt and a short moving or still meditation practice, which is all completely optional. This is your time whether it is geared towards a contemplative pause, or a creative, prayerful or meditative silence. Quiet the mind so you can journal, make music, art, pray, meditate, or read to help you uncover a healing moment, a sound, word, image, phrase — what wisdom is calling you this moment?

An Afternoon of

Lotus Petal

Wellness

meditation_stones-1500x972.jpg
Sunday Afternoon
Date Coming Soon

Join me to play and allow the unfolding of your petals as we mirror the lotus flower’s journey: sifting through the mud and moving towards the light, preparing us to gently rise out of “yinter” and accept the beauty and challenges that have made us resilient. To help you contemplate which petals of wellness you may want to integrate into your life, we will explore through expressive & healing arts to form an impression from the message of the lotus flower and how Radiant Lotus Qigong helps support the journey to meet your story anew. Experiencing these practices help to contribute to your self-care so you can more easily relate directly to what is happening around and inside you, and meet daily challenges as a stable lead energy with an open heart.

Suggested fee for each class:

About Radiant Lotus Women’s Qigong: This qigong is a self-healing internal art program specifically designed to empower women to practice self-care to help facilitate physical, emotional and spiritual benefits. The program consists of a series of movement techniques and breath exercises that have the capacity to help practitioners realize their own individual healing potential and reach optimal levels of health. These practices were developed by Daisy Lee and based on teachings she received from Tibetan, Chinese and Western masters. The difference between Radiant Lotus Women’s Qigong and other styles of Qigong is that its techniques are tailored to areas of the body specific to women’s health, and it is practiced and taught by women for women.

This Qigong is done mostly seated and adaptable to all levels.

Qigong Moving

Meditation:

Self-care

for Counselors

grand_canyon_01-1500x481.jpg
Friday March 5, 2021
12:00 PM - 1:30 PM

Sponsored by the Maryland Association for Spiritual and Ethical Values in Counseling, a division of the Maryland Counseling Association.

QiGong is a Chinese mind-body-spirit practice that is gaining popularity in the Western world. In this session, Ann Duvall, M.A., NCC, LPC will introduce Qigong and how it can be used to enhance self-awareness and deepen a spiritual practice. According to the ASERVIC competencies, professional counselors should be familiar with the most common spiritual frameworks and recognize their role in human functioning. You may decide to integrate some of the exercises learned into your daily life for self-care or to deepen awareness of this embodied spiritual practice. Qigong is highly adaptable for all levels and we will be doing both seated and standing Qigong, but you can remain seated for the entire practice. If you are interested in participating in the experiential part of this event, you may be more comfortable in loose clothing and flat shoes.

Learning objectives:

  • Summarize the basic principles of qigong moving meditation.

  • Evaluate the applicability of this modality as a mindfulness framework and a spiritual perspective.

  • Witness and experience several specific ways of engaging in qigong moving meditation.

1.5 NBCC clock hours earned.
