Experience Nature’s Caring Hand at River Farm

Placeholder Image

individual or group sessions by arrangement in Alexandria, Virginia

We take time for meditation, both still and moving, to listen to the cues from our environment and cultivate the healing spirit of compassionate creative care through Qigong. Drop into this space to listen to words, sounds, and images and let nature leave her lasting impression for an expressive reflective moment.

Through a moving meditation practice like Qigong you cultivate your inner and outer environment, and experience harmony and balance from a deeper understanding of the meaning behind the movements.

We all play a role in being nourished — its only natural. Journal, sketch, doodle, or take your seat to a spot on the grounds for the last part of the practice together to experience the 25 acres of gardens and woods overlooking the Potomac River so you are cured by Nature’s caring hand.

All levels welcome ages 18 and older

Connecting with Nature's Wisdom:
The Way of the Horse and Qigong

Placeholder Image

individual sessions or small groups by arrangement in Great Falls, Virginia

In connecting with the horses we reconnect with ourselves and nature to bring us into balance, similar to the healing art of Qigong. A session of qigong with the horses can help assess moment-by-moment awareness as we experience sensory integration to bring us physical, emotional, or spiritual benefits in addition to relational awareness. The horses connect with you as relational sentient beings and to offer their energetic support and insights.

Qigong, sometimes called moving meditation, is a mind-body practice that enhances vitality and calmness through the integration of posture, body movements, breathing, and focused intention. We will do simple qigong movements to aid in relaxation, centering and to increase our sensory awareness as we connect with the wisdom of our bodies and the natural wisdom of the horse.

Next Gen Qigong

individual or small groups by arrangement on-line

Through the simplicity of sharing the Qi, you reinforce what you already know: that we need to practice to have that restful-alert resilience. Noticing with slow natural awareness through the breath and the meaning behind the movement, you can embody healing moments. In the spirit of defining what is a healthy hospitable environment, nurturing Qi can be a gentle call to action, to move you beyond knowing the message behind the movements, to being part of THE movement: one where you are the lead energy supporting your healing environment.

(GU Faculty and Staff please note: we continue to have ongoing on-line Tuesday class options. Please let me know if you would like to join me or check your GU Wellness Update for more.)

Way with Words, Sounds and Images

open studio time with individuals or small groups by arrangement on-line

Part of the Imprint Foundation: supporting arts and health awareness.

Words, sounds, and images all serve to uplift us. During this open studio time, we create space to lead with the heart, and lead with the heart to create space. We wait for the way to open for that moment of pause. Through wu wei, or effortless effort, we tend to the healing spirit and give ourselves time for creative compassionate care.

We will begin with a contemplation, reading and/or prompt and a short moving or still meditation practice, which is all completely optional. This is your time whether it is geared towards a contemplative pause, or a creative, prayerful or meditative silence. Quiet the mind so you can journal, make music, art, pray, meditate, or read to help you uncover a healing moment, a sound, word, image, phrase — what wisdom is calling you this moment?
